A12 NID HOUSE

Bangkok

The extension and renovation of the 50s Bangkok house is developed with respect to its vernacularly modernist form. It literally frames the existing building with exterior corridor functioning as a buffer between living and working areas. Green belt along the fence is the outer frame subdividing perimeter of the house from surrounding. Simple geometry bound by angled and over extended beams which meet at the front corner of the building unites the extension part. Together with it reduced material expression create a dialogue between old and new structure set within green surrounding.
