A28 AT HOUSE

Ang Thong

The axial orientation of the house follows daily routine of the sun. Morning rays penetrate lattice work on bedroom side while sunset can be admired from double floor high common area on the opposite end of the house. Shift perpendicular to main axis creates additional “organic” openings in the middle of the house which allow not only light but also air to flow freely through-out the house.
The triangle opening at the top of the wall separating private and common areas on the upper floor serve the same purpose, allowing natural light to enter even the bathroom. This natural ventilation principle together with high pitched roof, repeated over bathroom are vernacular elements creating cosy and harmonious space. Each part of the house is rendered in plaster which differ in its finishing form. Smooth softer surface engulfs private volume while textured finish is associated with common part.
