Summerhouse is equally inspired by Thai vernacular architecture and modernist design principles in order to efficiently blend with the surrounding nature and create effortlessly sustainable living environment. This duality of references is further expressed in structural choices with the project platform following Thai traditional building technique while the living units are constructed with CLT wood formally borrowing from coffered ceilings common in modernist structures. Units contain master bedroom, guest bedroom and kitchen/dining area, the terrace serves as the primary living room. Orientation of “boxes” frames the outlook to the surrounding creating a negative space in the middle of the project which serves as viewing device for visual interaction with abundant nature around.
